Great Class- My Dream!!
Well, this his how I feel about one of my class. It's one of my Wednesday's class. At the beginning of the semester on my second week, when I was so much looking forward to having a great class, I made the mistake by being late as I struggled to find the class. Big Mistake!!! Period!! Its really difficult to get the rapport once you lost the chance and this is exactly what happened in this class. So, today on the fourth class I was close to tears in the classroom as i felt that I hit wall with this class. In my frustration I decided to talk to the monitor of the class about what had happened in the class.
The information I got from the monitor was a shocker. He told me how all other teachers had struggled with the students in his class and how the students are forced to come to our school by theirs parents. Most students come from well to do families but lack attention from their parents. They never really felt love in their life. Many of them are not interested in studies and the most shocking of all was that some of them were even involved in physical relationships with men to earn some extra money. Most of them are in their teens. It was a heart-breaking news indeed. The monitor and I are one in Spirit and he told me of what he did to help the class. But there seems to be very little that we could do. Our hearts goes out to them and we promised to each other that we should continue to be one in Spirit.
This is probably an extreme case or perhaps just the worst class among all my other classes. It will be unfair to label all my classes with the same name. There are some classes that are just angelic too. If the description of a great class is cooperation in the class, determination among students, and a great ambition among the students. This is perhaps something that I will always dream of having. Some of the students that I came across has the opposite description.
They say it's good to have a dream, and as long as I am with this school perhaps I will continue to dream of having a great class. I do hope to see that day will come to pass!!! I will continue to dream for my students that one day they will see the true meaning of life and be the positive change for their class. I will try to work hard in collaboration with the Spirit towards achieving that dream. Please be with me in Spirit.

Trade Doll for God
It was a beautiful spring afternoon that day when she came. We planned to go out together to get some sticker photos. Even though I never get to talk to her much before, I decided to take the opportunity to ask questions about life issues. That’s when I asked her, "What do you do when you feel lonely and when you have problems that you can't share with your most trusted friends and even to your parents?" The answer she gave me surprised me in a way because it was something very unfamiliar to me that was, talking to a doll to share problems with, even though I now believed that many people would be doing something similar. Perhaps being a person not very interested in dolls, I couldn't understand the logic.
It was an opportunity that was too good to miss that I decided to share about the Person I know very well who would listen to our problems and do something about it. Then I started to introduce the Man who change my life and ask her to talk to Him and share all her problems with Him, even though she may not know who He is at that moment. I told her that even thought He is not physically with us, He is alive and that He listens to everyone who talks to Him and that he will help us in our difficulties if we put our trusts in Him. I told her to stop talking to her doll and talk to the man she doesn't know who was even existed at that point of time and gave her A Book that she could read to know more about Him. We only talked for a few minutes and then went out to take sticker-photos with her. That was our first real encounter.
A week after we went out, we had the opportunity to ride on the bus together from our school for fifteen minutes and the question that she asked me was, "Why was the Man in the book compared with a lamb?" I was quite impressed to know that she was very seriously reading the book. I was able to share with her the importance of blood for a sacrifice and the relevance of His blood and that His blood that was shed was the key for us to be saved.
Since that evening on
We had summer holiday and I went home. I felt it was Dad who brought us together and so I asked Dad if I could work with her to learn more about Him. So after I came back from home I initiated and organise a time to study together. We asked Dad to give us more friends who would be willing to learn about the Man who change (d) our lives. We managed to get three more friends of hers and since October 2005 till today we continue to study together every week and it’s been a delightful journey together with Him. What motivates me most is to see a life that finds meaning, purpose and identity and a life with hope in Him in a world of uncertainties.

Free Talk!!!!
In a country where English is hardly spoken by majority of the people, the opportunity to use English doesn't come easy. Students who major in English often struggle to practice what they have learnt in the classroom and develop their skill. In their hunger to practice their English, it is not an uncommon thing for students to bother their English teachers, especially when they are native speakers, at every opportunity they could find.
Bearing in mind how difficult it is to find the opportunity for students to speak in English, even though they major in English, I decided to give my time and create an opportunity for my students to practice their English. Our department has given us a room for all the foreigners to share and so I made use of the room for the students to come to the office and speak with us every Monday at lunch time. One of my colleague agreed to join me and we both started the "Free Talk" on 19th March.
My initial thought when I initiated the Free Talk was that of fear. I was a bit apprehensive that students would not turn up and that none of them would be interested to come. Also, it's the first time in four years that I have initiated this kind of activities for the students. On the first day we had the Free Talk, my friend and I were waiting for the students and we were thrilled to have about seventeen students come for the first time. On the second week, we are again delighted to find out that more students are willing to join and spend their time with us.
Speaking in English is the primary goal for us to organise the "Free Talk" and the secondary goal, though equally important is that we would like to help the young people in our department to share our lives with them. There are many young people especially in our department who are directionless and struggling to find purpose in life. We don't have the solution to their problems but we are hoping that we might be able to direct them to the "One" who has the solutions to all the problems in this world. Many of our young students never thought beyond what is being told, they are not used to question as to how and why things are. They just go with the flow without knowing why they do things. Making choices for themselves is not something they are familiar with, because it's left to their parents who often doesn't have any clue about their children's interests and aspirations.
The challenge is great but even if we don't achieve great things, our hearts desire is that at least a few students would find the true meaning and purpose of life.
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
